Graham Responds to Former President Obama’s Statement on Israel

WASHINGTON – U.S. Senator Lindsey Graham (R-South Carolina) today responded to a statement issued by former President Barack Obama on the Israel-Hamas war.

“I have been working in a bipartisan fashion to give Israel the time and space they need to destroy Hamas. We are also working to develop a plan to deliver a better life for the Palestinians, and to stop Iran from destroying the stabilization of the region by way of normalization between Saudi Arabia and Israel.

“President Obama, you and your administration deserve credit for giving the green light to take Osama Bin Laden down in Pakistan. That was a hard decision, but the correct decision.

“However, your statements recently on Israel are shocking and not helpful.

“The problems associated with an emboldened Iran were created on your watch!

“President Obama, it was your policies toward Iran that made them richer, more emboldened and stronger so that this day was made possible. The Biden Administration unfortunately continues the misguided efforts of your administration to fuel Iran with cash and oil revenue.

“Israel must destroy Hamas. They are modern day religious Nazis. The goal of Israeli military operations is to protect the innocent. Hamas could not care less about innocent Palestinians.

“Israel need not be reminded by you or anyone else about the need to lessen innocent civilian casualties. They have been working without much support from the international community to relocate innocent Palestinians before major ground operations occur.

“Your statement on Israel, intended or not, will not deter the terrorists. But it will create problems for our friends in Israel.

“Now is the time for all Americans to understand that Hamas is beyond evil. Their agenda is to destroy the Jewish state.

“Now is the time for all Americans to understand the barbaric nature of these crimes and to reinforce that there is no moral equivalence between Israeli policy and the genocidal actions of Hamas. I wish you and others would be more clear on who the bad guy is.

“When it comes to the rise of terrorism throughout the world, your presidency was a disaster.”
