Graham: We’re At War Against The Virus
WASHINGTON – U.S. Senator Lindsey Graham (R-South Carolina) today spoke with members of the media following a meeting with the South Carolina Hospital Association regarding the needs of South Carolina hospitals in a Phase IV stimulus package that may come before Congress.
Ø GRAHAM: “This is a war between South Carolina, the country, and the virus. Most people fighting the war are in the hospitals and the doctor’s offices. We’ve had a long tradition of supporting frontline forces, making sure they have what they need to win the war and doing our part. Everybody in World War II sacrificed and did their part. So if you believe we’re at war, which I do, with a virus, how can you contribute to victory? Wear a mask, wash your hands, practice social distancing. If you’ll do that, you’ll be doing something very helpful to the people on the front lines who are literally under siege.”
Ø GRAHAM: “Hospitals are facing severe staffing shortages. We have beds, they’re beginning to fill up, but more than anything else the doctors, nurses, and frontline healthcare professionals are being affected by the virus. We have a growing and severe staff shortage in terms of hospital systems. I think all of us should do what we can to take the burden off these doctors, nurses, and frontline healthcare workers.”
