Hartwell Lake Campgrounds to open April 1

The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers Savannah District opens the following campgrounds and day use areas for the 2015 recreation season April 1 at Hartwell Lake. Crescent Group Campground in Anderson County has all sites open April 1 – Oct. 31. This campground is conveniently located off Highway 29 near the Hartwell Dam. The campground consists of two loops (one with 10 sites and one with 22 sites) that may be reserved for large groups to camp together. All sites are equipped with electric (50-amp) and water hook-ups. Other amenities at this campground include shower and restroom facilities, dump station, playground, park hosts and two picnic shelters. Springfield Campground in Anderson County opens April 1 – Oct. 31. This campground offers 79 sites with 75 waterfronts. All sites are equipped with electric (50-amp) and water hook-ups. Springfield also has four double sites for those wishing to camp together. Shower and restroom facilities are conveniently located throughout the park. Other amenities at the park include a dump station, swim beach, playgrounds, park attendant, and a boat ramp with courtesy dock and security lighting. Twin Lakes Campground in Pickens County has all sites open April 1 – Nov. 30; from Dec. 1 – March 31 sites 25-58 are open. Twin Lakes Campground is one of the most popular campgrounds on Hartwell Lake. The campground is located at the northern end of the lake in South Carolina. Twin Lakes has a total of 102 sites (85 waterfronts), all with electric (50-amp) and water hook-ups. Shower and restrooms facilities are conveniently located throughout the park. Amenities like dump stations, swim beach, boat ramp with courtesy dock, park attendant, playgrounds, fishing pier, picnic shelter and security lighting are also available. Watsadler Campground in Hart County has sites open April 1 – Nov. 30; from Dec. 1 – March 31 sites 2-23 are open. The campground is located near the Hartwell Dam overlooking the “Big Water” section of the lake. This campground has a total of 51 sites (49 waterfronts), all with electric (50-amp) and water hook ups. This campground features single and double sites. Other amenities at this campground include shower and restroom facilities, dump station, playgrounds, park attendant, and boat ramp with courtesy dock and security lighting. “Campsites can be reserved up six months in advance,” said Tanya Grant, Corps park ranger at Hartwell Lake. “We always recommend campers make reservations to secure their favorite campsite as campgrounds are already filling up for upcoming spring breaks and spring and summer holidays.” In addition, the following day use areas will open from April 1 – Sept. 9 for the 2015 season. The Singing Pines Day Use Area in Anderson County and the Twelve Mile Day Use Area in Pickens County provide picnic shelters, picnic sites, restroom facilities, playgrounds, swim beaches and boat ramps with courtesy dock and security lighting.
