Hazmat called after Train found leaking Vapor in OC

A Norfolk Southern train car was spotted leaking a vapor in Oconee County and a Hazmat crew was called to the scene on Saturday. Oconee County Fire Chief Charlie King reports there was no danger to the community. He said someone called 911 after seeing gas coming out of two railcars that were heading northeast on the tracks through the City of Westminster. The train stopped and a Hazmat crew was called to investigate. Officials determined that the car had been emptied at its last stop and the vapor was a residual leak. After an inspection, it was determined that the vapors were Carbon Dioxide and the train car was venting, which is a normal occurrence.
