Help for Women Entrepreneurs in OC

The SC Women’s Business Center (SCWBC) is partnering with the Oconee Business Center, SBDC and SCORE to help entrepreneurs in Oconee County. They will host two seminars this fall; an Entrepreneurial Readiness seminar on Sept. 25 and a Business Plan Clinic on Oct. 23. The Entrepreneurial Readiness seminar is for people who are starting or growing a business. It helps new and would-be entrepreneurs evaluate their skills by discussing common traits of successful entrepreneurs and learning what lenders are looking for. It is also an opportunity for current business owners to learn how to take their business to the next level. The seminar is a prerequisite for the no-cost counseling offered by the SC Women’s Business Center. The Business Plan Clinic is an interactive workshop that provides help in developing a Business Plan that will aid business owners in starting or growing a business. The workshop covers possible outlines, budgeting time and money, marketing planning, operating planning and projecting revenue. The seminars will be held at the Oconee Business Center at 104 Brown’s Square Drive in Walhalla. Representatives from TD Bank will help with the instruction and discussion on financial matters in both seminars. Entrepreneurial Readiness will be offered on Sept. 25 from 11:30am to 1:30pm; the cost is $20 per person. The Business Plan Clinic will be held on Oct. 25 from 11:30am to 2pm and the cost is $25 per person. Attendees are invited to bring their lunch and dessert will be provided. The SC Women’s Business Center (SCWBC) was established Oct. 1, 2011 in Charleston. It is a non-profit funded by the SBA (Small Business Association) and private donations. SCWBC expanded into the Upstate in Oct. 2012. SCWBC offers workshops, networking and one-on-one counseling. Both women and men are welcome to attend any event sponsored by this organization.
