Help Provide Books for Children

The City of Clemson invites the community to drop off a book for a child during the week of April 6-12.  The community is asked to collect books for children ages birth to three.  The book drive will target low-income families with the goal of placing books into homes that do not normally have them.  The event will also recognize the importance of reading to young children.  The books will be given to Head Start programs and also focus on families that are referred to United Way by local service agencies. A Drop Box for children’s books will be located in the upper lobby of Clemson City Hall, located at 1250 Tiger Boulevard.  New and gently used books are preferred. The United Way is participating in The Week of the Young Child, focusing public attention on the needs of young children, their families, and the early childhood programs and services that meet those needs.  There will be fun, free public events in Easley and Clemson and the United Way will be partnering with Pickens County First Steps in support of this event.
