Help sought identifying Man in Westminster Burglaries

The Oconee County Sheriff’s Office seeks the public’s help regarding two separate burglaries in the Westminster area on Thursday, Jan. 7, and the identity of the individuals in relation to these burglaries. The first case was reported to the Sheriff’s Office early Thursday evening from an address on Coffee Road in which a complainant told a deputy that some items had been taken from a family member’s home. After arriving at the residence, the deputy was informed that two individuals, a man and woman, were there and that one of them inquired about property lines. While the female talked with the resident, the male walked around the house. The resident later discovered that about $150 was missing. A camera on the property revealed a man walking out of one of the doors at the residence. A check of the residence also revealed that prescription medication was missing. The individuals in question were possibly driving a white or tan pickup truck, possibly a GMC with a busted windshield. A little bit later Thursday evening, a deputy responded to an address on Oakway Road for a call similar to the one on Coffee Road. The homeowner told the deputy that a pickup truck pulled into the yard of the residence with a male and female inside. The male inquired about the property lines and both individuals followed the resident inside of the house but then went outside and walked to the side of the house. Later, a family member discovered a billfold and identification of a deceased family member at the intersection of Highway 182 and Burris Road. According to deputies, the male subject was described as being white, 6 feet tall and around 200 pounds, with brown hair. The female appeared to be in her early ‘20’s with dark eyes, black shoulder length hair and wore glasses. Another family member described the vehicle they were driving as an early 2000’s model gold Chevrolet 1500. The case was referred to the Criminal Investigations Division where investigators believe that the same man and woman were involved in both incidents. The Sheriff’s Office reminds residents that if someone comes to your door or drives into your yard and you don’t know who they are, you have the right as a homeowner not to answer the door or step outside of your residence. Always, remember to keep your doors locked and not to allow individuals to follow you into your residence if you do not want them to be there. If you have any information on the identity of the individuals involved in these burglaries, call Crime Stoppers at 1-888-CRIME-SC. You don’t have to give your name when you call Crime Stoppers and all information provided is confidential. If your tip leads to an arrest, you could be eligible for a cash reward.
