Help sought in Burglaries and Larcenies on Utica Mill Hill

The Oconee County Sheriff’s Office seeks help solving two separate incidents that occurred on the Utica Mill Hill near Seneca. Both incidents occurred at 15 Powell Street. The first was reported on Jan. 4, after a deputy was notified by the homeowner of damage to the heat pump at the residence. Deputies believe that the heat pump was damaged sometime between midnight New Year’s Day and around 7:30pm Jan. 4. The deputy also noticed that the door lock to the crawl space had been broken into but it appeared that items in the crawl space had only been moved around. The homeowner told the deputy that it would cost around $5,000 to replace the unit. The second incident was reported to the Sheriff’s Office on Feb. 11 as a deputy responded to reports of a burglary. The homeowner told the deputy that the home was broken into sometime between 8am Feb. 7 and 9am on Feb. 11. The victim said it appeared that someone came into the residence through a window and reportedly stole a stove, a shop vacuum, a 10-foot aluminum ladder and some paint. The suspect reportedly left hand trucks at the scene with a refrigerator left on them. The total amount of items taken in the February burglary and larceny is around $660.
