Help sought in Counterfeit Check Case at Seneca Walmart

The Oconee County Sheriff’s Office seeks the public’s help solving a counterfeit check case this summer at the Walmart in Seneca as well as seeking the identity of an individual in relation to the case. A deputy spoke with the victim who lives in the state of Georgia on Sept. 15 regarding charges on the victim’s bank statement that were not approved by the victim. One of the transactions in question was recorded on the account on Aug. 24 for $200 that as labeled was an ACH payment. The date of the transaction at the Seneca Walmart was around Aug. 21. The case was turned over to the Criminal Investigations Division of the Sheriff’s Office, where an investigator gathered evidence including video surveillance from the store. As a result of the evidence gathered, investigators obtained pictures of an individual that the Sheriff’s Office needs to identify in relation to the case. Investigators have also learned that the victim had unauthorized charges placed on the bank account from two additional Walmart locations in Taylorsville, NC as well as Spartanburg, SC.
