HIGH-SPEED CHASE SOUTH ON SC 11

The subject of a high-speed chase from North Carolina into Oconee County was taken into custody apparently in the vicinity of the South Carolina Welcome Center. The chase started earlier this morning in Transylvania County, North Carolina. Officers there attempted to make a traffic stop of a white Dodge with a camper pulling a skid steer. The chase proceeded along SC 11, thru West Union, South Union, and eventually ended after Oconee officers used stop sticks to disable the vehicle. To capture their suspect, Oconee officers enlisted the help of the Anderson Sheriff’s Office which activated a helicopter. Officers from the Hart County, Georgia Sheriff’s Office waited on their side of the I-85 bridge, in the event the chase entered their county.
