Hot Times at OHC

The heat and humidity have quickly come to the Oconee Heritage Center in downtown Walhalla. The county’s history and heritage museum reports that all five of its air conditioning units have stopped working, explains Oconee Heritage Center curator and director Leslie White. “We are currently completing diagnostics and assessments to the units, but the repairs and possible replacements could cost up to $50,000, which we simply do not have at this time. We need your help to raise $50,000 to repair the air conditioning systems. This is an urgent need because keeping the museum at a cool temperature and low humidity is essential to the preservation of the artifacts that represent the wonderful history of Oconee County.” The Oconee Heritage Center is an independent 501(c)3 non-profit organization governed by a Board of Directors, and donations may be tax deductible. There are several ways residents can donate to the Oconee Heritage Center. On their website at www.oconeeheritagecenter.org by clicking the “Donate” button, which links you to Pay Pal where you can complete the transaction. Donate in person at the Oconee Heritage Center, which is located at 123 Brown’s Square Drive in Walhalla. You can also donate by mail to PO Box 395, Walhalla, SC, 29691.
