Human Remains Found Near Seneca Wal-Mart Identified

The Oconee County Coroner’s Office responded to a report of human remains found in a wooded area near Seneca Wal-Mart on Tuesday evening. The deceased was identified as Andrew Cory Stone, a 36-year-old man who used to live in Easley.

Mr. Stone appeared to have been living in a tent in the woods next to Wal-Mart. His body was moderately decomposed, and it is estimated that he died late Sunday night or Monday.

An autopsy showed no fatal traumatic injuries and toxicology analysis is needed to determine the cause of death. The manner of death is currently classified as Pending by Oconee County Coroner Karl Addis.

The Oconee County Sheriff’s Office and Coroner’s Office are investigating.
