Hundreds Petition for SDOC Property to be Acquired by City of Seneca

A decision is expected next month regarding the future of the Seneca Middle School on WS 4th Extension, which is soon to be replaced by a new complex on the Wells Highway. Mayor Pro-Tem Ronnie O’Kelley indicated on Tuesday night that, after speaking with SDOC Board Trustee Dr. Sandra Sloan, the school’s disposition will be discussed at the county trustees’ December meeting.

Lee Sheehan of Seneca has proposed that the city should take over the building and property to convert it into recreational facilities, as the city’s recreation department is currently lacking space for the hundreds of children who register for the city’s sports teams. Sheehan also announced that a petition supporting Seneca’s bid for the properties has already gathered 500 signatures in just four days.
