Increased fire danger this afternoon and evening, according to NWS

The National Weather Service is advising of an increased fire danger this afternoon and evening across Northeast Georgia and Upstate South Carolina.

Forecasters said that dry high pressure will begin to build into the area today behind the departing cold front. Fuel moisture values are very low, and windy conditions will develop this afternoon as deep mixing takes place.

This, combined with a dry air mass, will allow relative humidity values to drop to around 25 to 30% and will lead to increased fire danger across the area.

Please refer to your local burn permitting authorities on whether or not you may burn today. If you do burn, use extreme caution since fires can quickly get out of hand under these conditions.
