Interdenominational event to combat global hunger

On Saturday morning, an interdenominational event will take place at the College Street Baptist Church in Walhalla, aimed at combating global hunger. Donna Manley Pankratz, a member of the Walhalla Presbyterian Church, has announced a partnership with the Church of the Ascension in Seneca for this cause. They anticipate the participation of around 100 volunteers who will assemble meals for the Rise Against Hunger organization, which will distribute them to those in need.

A similar event held at the West Union Fire Department last year resulted in the production of 18,000 meals, which were sent to a children’s orphanage in Nicaragua. Manley Pankratz emphasizes the gratification volunteers experience, knowing that the meals they package in Oconee could potentially be the only meals the recipients have for a day.
