Is Project Cherry Coming to Fruition?

The Oconee County Council is preparing to approve an economic development investment, currently referred to as “Project Cherry”. Prior to adjournment, the council is scheduled to enter into a closed-door session to discuss the matter. Jamie Gilbert, the county’s economic development recruiter, has been pursuing several projects, including this one.

Also at the meeting, scheduled for Tuesday, November 21st at 6:00pm in Council Chambers at Walhalla, the council will hold public hearings and vote on several ordinances, including amendments to the sign control ordinance, the public infrastructure reimbursement agreement with Seneca Cotton Mill Landlord, LLC, the residential lease agreement with James Kent Crooks, and the development standards for new residential subdivisions.

Following that, the council will vote on several resolutions, including the assignment and assumption of a fee agreement with Epoch Clemson, LLC, the performance agreement with Meyn America, LLC, and the partial assignment and assumption of a fee agreement with BASF Metals LLC.

Next, the council will discuss and approve several action items, such as the purchase of a tractor and mower, a mass casualty trailer, a mobile generator, and a camera system for the detention center, and the engineering services for the mass grading project at Golden Corner Commerce Park. 

Then the council will receive reports from the Planning and Economic Development Committee and the Real Estate, Facilities and Land Management Committee, according to the meeting agenda.
