Jobless Rate drops in Tri-County Area of Upstate

April unemployment figures show declines in the tri-county area of Upstate South Carolina. According the South Carolina Department of Employment and Workforce, Oconee County’s jobless rate in April stands at 5.7%, which is down from 5.8% reported in March. Pickens County posted 5.8% in April and 5.9% in March. For April, Anderson County’s unemployment rate is 5.5% with March’s rate at 5.6%. The state’s jobless rate in April stayed at 6.7% with the number of unemployed rising by almost 1,800 people, but the number of people working reached 2.1 million. The national unemployment rate stands at 5.4% for April, down from 5.5% in March.
