Lavonia Police search for Attempted Kidnapper

Lavonia Police are asking for the public’s help locating the man who tried to kidnap a teenage girl. Sister station WLHR reports that it happened about 5:30pm Tuesday. According to Lavonia Police Chief Bruce Carlisle, a 17-year old was jogging through the downtown area of Lavonia when the attack occurred. The unidentified teen is now safe. The suspect is described as a black male, approximately six-feet tall, with a muscular build, clean-shaven with short dark-gray hair. Carlisle is also advising people, especially women, who are out during the day or in the evenings exercising to take extra care until this suspect is caught. Carlisle says investigators will be meeting today with a GBI sketch artist and will be issuing that sketch later today. Anyone with information on this suspect is asked to contact the Lavonia Police Department at 706-356-4848 or call your local 911. You do not have to give your name.
