Leadership Changes For Oconee Municipal Association

Last night’s meeting of the Oconee Municipal Association saw changes in leadership. West Union Mayor Linda Oliver succeeded Joel Ward of Seneca as chair; Walhalla’s Mayor Danny Edwards became the new vice-chair; and Mayor Brian Ramey of Westminster was delegated to the Appalachian Council of Government. He replaced Seneca’s Dana Moore, who discussed in detail the many services offered through the ACOG Greenville Headquarters.

Last night’s meeting was also the first since Seneca made known its intent to potentially seek a court’s ruling on the makeup of the Oconee Joint Regional Sewer Authority. In speaking with reporters after the meeting, West Union Mayor Linda Oliver said the strife between the municipal members needs to end. She offered a possible solution to the matter, and with an eye on Salem’s future for potential growth, she said, that town could one day, too, become an OJRSA member, but before that can happen, the discord needs to be resolved…
