LEADERSHIP OCONEE PROGRAM ACCEPTING APPLICATION FOR ITS 16TH CLASS

From the Oconee County Chamber of Commerce:

Leadership Oconee County is now recruiting its 16th class. Leadership Oconee County, a program of the Oconee County Area Chamber of Commerce, has become an integral part of educating, motivating, and training leaders within the area.

“Leadership Oconee County is an excellent personal and professional development opportunity for residents of all ages. The Oconee County Chamber of Commerce is proud to say we have graduated 274 participants since it began in 2005,” said Crystal Romanyszyn, Oconee County Chamber Executive Director. “This year we have improved the program by adding a personal leadership development component to each class session that will be incredibly beneficial not only to the participants but also to employers. I highly encourage you to enroll yourself, or one of your key employees, in this valuable program. With the education component aside, one of the best outcomes each year are the new friendships that are formed, as well as the numerous community connections.”

The 6-month course begins March 21st with an overnight retreat. After the retreat, the class meets one day per month at a variety of locations throughout Oconee County. The sessions cover an array of topics including history of Oconee County and the region, local and state government, healthcare & human services, education and workforce development, plus awareness of the variety of opportunities for servant leadership in our community. There is a new addition to this year’s program. A personal leadership development component has been added to each class session. The topics covered will develop leadership skills in each participant that will be valuable not only to themselves but their employers.

“Leadership Oconee County was one of the best experiences for my personal life and professional career. Born and raised in Oconee County, I thought I knew all that our county had to offer. LOC taught me differently. I learned about our community, our businesses, our charitable organizations, and our residents. I made network connections and lifelong friendships through the program and was able to grow as a leader and a follower. I would highly recommend the program for both native residents and newcomers,” commented Danielle Leeper, Blue Ridge Bank and 2017 Leadership Oconee graduate.
