Legion Commander goes to Washington

American Legion District 13 Commander Carlton Patterson recently visited the nation’s capital to campaign for increased veterans benefits.  “The recent trip to Washington, D.C. went really well.  Our new National Commander Dan Dellinger sat before the Sub-Committee on Veterans Affairs as we try to increase our veterans’ benefits and maintain what we have.  There are ten main issues that we are working on this year and he did an outstanding job.  We went by and saw our Senators and House of Representatives to help us.  Nancy Pelosi spoke at our Commanders Breakfast along with Joe Wilson and we appreciate those people coming on board and trying to help us out all they can for veterans benefits.  We fight for our veterans because they paid so much for this country and as they come back with lost limbs and everything, they deserve everything that we can give them.  This was just a little way of showing our appreciation.” The range of health issues facing America’s veterans is both wide and ever evolving. The American Legion recognizes this and provides valuable health-care information on a variety of conditions, as well as regularly updated information on the Department of Veterans Affairs.
