Local Jewelers to be inducted into OC Chamber Hall of Fame

The Oconee County Chamber of Commerce proudly announces Bill and Phyllis Thraves as the recipients of the Oconee County Chamber of Commerce’s Hall of Fame Award for 2014. The award will be presented at Spotlight Oconee, the Chamber’s Annual Meeting and Awards Dinner, explains executive director Jillian Lusk. “Since 1982, the Oconee County Chamber of Commerce Board of Directors selects an individual that has made a lasting impact on their community to recognize each year. The Hall of Fame Award is given to a leadership within the local business community who remains active in community causes and organizations, and has helped contribute to making Oconee County a better place to live. Bill and Phyllis Thraves are dedicated and generous community leaders. Since opening up W.W. Thraves Jewelers in 1977, they have committed countless hours to giving back to their community.” Bill served the community as presidents of the Downtown Merchants Association, Seneca Rotary club, SC Jewelers Association, and Dogwood Merchants association. He has served on the Chamber of Commerce and SC Jewelers Association boards and as Commodore of the Keowee Sailing club. Bill serves on the Eternal Shepherd Lutheran Church council. Phyllis is also involved in many community projects; together they make an amazing team. “The Board of Directors had unanimous support for recognizing the Thraves this year for our Hall of Fame. They have always maintained an active role in the Chamber and more importantly, they truly are people that you feel honored to know,” added Lusk. Everyone is invited to Spotlight Oconee to celebrate with the Chamber in recognizing local business leaders and Bill and Phyllis Thraves as the Hall of Fame Recipients.
