Local Projects included in Federal Aid Bridge Program

Two bridge resurfacing projects in Oconee County are being recommended for state repairs in 2013. The South Carolina Department of Transportation announces that public comment on the projects is currently being accepted.  DOT resident maintenance engineer for Oconee County Mike Smith says the bridges recommended for funding from the Federal Aid Bridge Program are the north and southbound lanes on the second set of bridges over Fair Play Creek, as well as the northbound lanes of the I-85 bridge leading from Georgia to South Carolina.  Statewide projects include the replacement of 34 bridges located in 22 counties and the rehabilitation of 53 bridges in 27 counties. The bridges will be programmed for construction as funding becomes available. Comments on the projects can be made by logging onto www.dot.state.sc.us and will be accepted until the close of business on December 28, 2012.
