Local Teenager distributes Bracelets to Law Enforcement and Public Safety Workers

Tyler Orr and Sheriff Mike CrenshawA young man with a desire to become a law enforcement officer in the future is distributing bracelets to local law enforcement and public safety workers. The Oconee County Sheriff’s Office reports that 15-year-old Tyler Orr, a rising junior at Walhalla High School, is showing his support for officers, first responders and public safety workers by making paracord bracelets. The bracelets are black in color with a thin blue line of material in the middle. With the recent incidents around the country that have led to the deaths of law enforcement officers, Tyler wanted to show his support. This passion for becoming an officer has led Tyler to take classes in the Criminal Justice Program at the Hamilton Career Center and to attend the Nathan M. Wolfe Cadet Academy at the South Carolina Criminal Justice Academy this summer. The bracelets, which Tyler says take about 15 minutes to make per bracelet, have been given to firefighters, dispatchers, detention center officers, and law enforcement officers. In addition, Tyler made one and recently presented it to Oconee County Sheriff Mike Crenshaw. Tyler even has a Facebook page for the paracord bracelets that he makes called “Paracord Products for Emergency Services.” The bracelets are free to all firefighters, dispatchers, detention center and law enforcement officers and are $5 each for everyone else.
