Loss of Another Westminster School is a “Big Deal”; New Housing Development Proposed

During their council meeting on Tuesday evening, Westminster’s Mayor, Brian Ramey, urged the city council to prevent the loss of the city’s middle school on SC 183/Walhalla-Westminster Highway. The idea of building a new middle school on SC 24 near West-Oak High School is being considered by the School District of Oconee County. Ramey stated that losing another school after Westminster lost its high school to a rural location in the last century would be a “big deal.”

In other news from Tuesday night’s city council meeting in Westminster, a home builder is eager to begin construction of 133 single-family homes on Seed Farm Road near the city and has requested that the property be annexed. City administrator Kevin Bronson predicts that the new homes will be larger than those being built at Cooper’s Mill on Mountain Road.
