Major Drug arrest near OC School

The Oconee County Sheriff’s Office in a joint operation with the West Union Police Department has arrested an Oconee County man on multiple drug charges after executing a search warrant at a residence across the road from Keowee Elementary School.  Oconee County Sheriff’s Office Public Information Officer Jimmy Watt gives details.  “48-year-old Kyle Royce Carter of 7060 Keowee School Road, Seneca, has been charged with two counts of trafficking ice, one count of distribution of ice in the proximity of a school, possession with intent to distribute acid, 4 counts of possession of a controlled substance, possession of marijuana, and possession of mushrooms.  Officers from the Sheriff’s Office and West Union Police, as well as narcotics agents executed the search warrant, according to Ken Washington, Captain of the Special Operations Division of the Oconee County Sheriff’s Office.  According to Captain Washington, the investigation only lasted a couple of days and an operative working on behalf of the Sheriff’s Office made a buy from the residence.  The West Union Police Department also provided information and met with the Sheriff’s Office and several complaints had been received by the Sheriff’s Office concerning Carter as well.  Officers were then able to obtain a search warrant.  According to Captain Washington, 80 hits of acid, 115 prescription pills, 2.1 grams of mushrooms, 182 grams of methamphetamine, and 50.2 grams of marijuana.  The total street value of all the drugs seized was over $25,000 with one ounce of meth having a street value of $1,200.   In addition, multiple weapons were seized as well.  No meth labs of any kind were found and the meth found was ready to be sold.  A concern for Captain Washington was the fact that the house where the drugs were found is right across the road from Keowee Elementary School.
