Man charged in Liberty Shooting

Officers with the Liberty Police Department arrested a man on Thursday wanted in connection with an October shooting that left two dead. Upon his release from the Roger C. Peace Rehabilitation Center, 32-year-old Benjamin Pilgrim was arrested and charged with two counts of murder and one count of possession of a weapon during the commission of a violent crime. On Oct. 10, Liberty Police were dispatched to Forestview Apartments to investigate a shooting that left 42-year-old Steven Chapman and 22-year-old Houston Chapman dead. Police said Pilgrim was engaged to marry into the Chapman family, but by all indications the relationship with the family was strained.
