Man injured trying to steal Power

An electrical mishap near Seneca sent one man to the hospital. According to Blue Ridge Electric Cooperative spokesperson Terry Ballenger, during an apparent attempt at power theft, an individual in the Friendship community came into contact with an energized conductor and sustained injuries. Blue Ridge Electric Cooperative had earlier disconnected service at the location because of nonpayment of the power bill. It appears that the individual placed an aluminum ladder against a Blue Ridge pole. Upon climbing the ladder, the person employed jumper cables in an effort to restore power at the residence. At some point, the individual made contact with an energized conductor. Medical personnel came to the scene and transported the injured man to the hospital. At this point, Blue Ridge has made inquiries, but has been unable to ascertain either the extent of his injuries or the place where he is receiving treatment.
