Man Sentenced to 15 Years in Prison for 2019 Incident

A man who pleaded guilty to charges of grand larceny and felony DUI resulting in death was sentenced to fifteen years in prison by 10th Circuit Judge J. Cordell Maddox on Monday.

Robert Allen Pelfrey was driving a car stolen from a Walhalla driveway in March of 2019 when he crashed into an Equinox at South Broad and South Cedar Streets in Walhalla. The driver of the Equinox, identified as Tracy Davis, was taken to a Greenville hospital, however 76 year-old Lois Faye Winkler, a passenger in the Davis vehicle, was killed as a result of the crash.

Solicitor David Wagner called Ms. Winkler’s death a “senseless tragedy.” Pelfrey will not be eligible for parole, court officials said.
