Man shot and killed over money in Clemson

A man was shot and killed in a dispute over money Wednesday evening in the City of Clemson. The Clemson City Police Department reports that officers received a call around 5:40pm in regards to a shooting. When they arrived on scene, officers discovered a gunshot victim lying outside of the home. Police determine the suspect was still inside the home and ordered him out while EMS treated the victim, who was identified as 53-year-old James Cherry of Clemson. The Pickens County Coroner’s Office says Cherry was transported to Oconee Medical Center where he was pronounced dead. An autopsy is scheduled for Thursday. Officers arrested 55-year-old Mark Burnside of Clemson. He is currently being held at Clemson City Jail.
