Mask Mandate Passed by Clemson City Council

Following a two hour long meeting Friday afternoon, Clemson City Council passed a new emergency mask ordinance for what are considered “essential” public places. The ordinance applies to those inside grocery stores, pharmacies, healthcare facilities, as well as all public and private schools within the city limits.

Council stopped short of including non-essential businesses, such as bars and boutiques, but vowed to monitor rates and see if the ordinance needs to expand in the coming weeks. Pickens County Schools announced they will resume face to face instruction today for those not enrolled in the virtual option.

Last week, Clemson University implemented a mask mandate for three weeks at all campus facilities.
