Mayfest draws Visitors to Walhalla

Visitors flocked to Walhalla’s Mayfest Art of Living on Friday and Saturday. The free event featuring art, craft and food vendors lining Main Street was a success, says Vanessa Penton, executive director of the Walhalla Area Chamber of Commerce. “Beginning Friday morning art, craft and food vendors lined Main Street. Later that afternoon we had our first Classic Car Show in the Walhalla Depot Park area. We had 32 car entries. Gerald Howard, a West Union and Walhalla resident walked away with the “Best in Show” and Doug Hamby won “People’s Choice”. Good times were had at the Depot; we also had The Dave Tilley Project playing beach and shag music under the pavilion and had several folks out shagging, having a good time. Saturday morning our vendors lined up again at 9am and we had live bands playing from the green space, so we had a lot of out of town visitors come through and enjoy their time in Walhalla.” Pictures of Mayfest can be seen on facebook at Greater Walhalla Area Chamber.
