Meth Operation uncovered near Bountyland

The Oconee County Sheriff’s Office uncovered a meth operation near the Bountyland Community on Tuesday.  The civil unit of the Sheriff’s Office went to do an eviction at 615 West Springwood Drive in Oconee Estates and uncovered the meth lab explains Oconee County Sheriff’s Office Public Information Officer Jimmy Watt.  “During the eviction process, deputies noticed a strange odor and called the narcotics unit.  Once narcotics units arrived, those deputies along with the civil unit found several shake and bake operations, although none were active at that time.  Narcotics units then began the process of cleaning up the meth labs and an outside contractor removed the chemicals from the scene.  35-year-old Roger Caness Martin, Jr. of 615 West Springwood Drive in Seneca turned himself into the narcotics agents yesterday and was transported to the Oconee County Detention Center.  He was booked into the detention center at 6:48pm Tuesday evening.  Martin, Jr. has been charged with manufacturing methamphetamine.  The warrant states, “Miscellaneous chemicals and cooking equipment that is used in the manufacture of methamphetamine were present in the residence.”  The Oconee County Sheriff’s Office is continuing their investigation.
