Minor Storm Damage in OC

Heavy rain swept through Oconee County last night between 6-10pm causing minor damage, says Oconee County Emergency Service Director Chief Scott Krein. “We did have a little flooding from over filled ditches due to the rate of water but all of those have subsided.” Emergency crews are inspecting roads today, continues Chief Krein. “We are still looking at everything, making sure that all the roads are OK and making sure that ditches and culverts are clear that may have been filled from any debris.” When you hear thunder go indoors, concludes Chief Krein. “With lighting and thunder around, we always need to go indoors, get out of the immediate danger of the lighting and don’t travel if we don’t have to as roads do flood.” Motorists are reminded, “Go Around, Don’t Drown,” when it comes to large pools of water covering roadways.
