More Arrests Made in OCSO’s Drug Round-Ups; More Suspects Still Wanted

The Oconee County Sheriff’s Office reports an additional arrest in the 2024 drug round-up. As of Wednesday noon, 14 subjects have been arrested or served warrants.

Jeffrey Lane Gibson, 57, was arrested for methamphetamine distribution and issued citations for marijuana possession and an open container in a vehicle. He remains in jail on a $50,000 bond.

Michael Keith Rogers, 42, was also arrested for methamphetamine distribution and has been released on a $25,000 bond.

James Edward Benton, 47, was arrested in the second drug round-up of 2023 by the Oconee County Sheriff’s Office. He was charged with one count of Methamphetamine distribution. Benton was transferred from Anderson County to Oconee County Detention Center and remains in jail pending a bond hearing. A hold has also been placed on him by Anderson County.

As of now, 23 out of 26 wanted individuals have either been arrested or served their warrants. The Sheriff’s Office seeks help in locating the remaining suspects. Tips can be submitted confidentially to Crimestoppers online, with potential cash rewards for information leading to an arrest.
