More charges filed against Bomb Threat Suspect

Authorities brought new charges against a Seneca woman accused of making a series of bomb threats.  A total of 30 charges now face 38-year-old Melissa Ann Griggs.  The new charges stem from incidents reported inside the City of Seneca that the Oconee County Sheriff’s Office was asked to sign the warrants.  Griggs has applied for legal representation through the Oconee County Public Defender’s Office.  She remains in the Oconee County Detention Center, with her bail totaling over $226,000.  She was initially charged with eight counts of making bombing threats on Feb. 10 and Feb. 11 in Oconee County.  Pickens County authorities served her with warrants while in jail for two counts of making bomb threats to the Hendrix Student Center of Clemson University on Jan. 30 and Feb. 4. The most recent charges against Griggs cover threats made on Feb. 4 and Feb. 5 against Oconee Medical Center, Bi-Lo, Ingles, TD Bank, Community First Bank, BASF, Seneca High School, Keowee Elementary School, and McDonalds. A preliminary hearing date for Griggs has been set for March 22.
