More Construction Jobs now offered in U.S.

A new analysis from CareerBuilder and Economic Modeling Specialists International shows commercial building is out-pacing residential construction. CareerBuilder’s Jennifer Grasz gives details. “When you look at industrial building construction jobs, those are the factory, mining, power plant construction jobs; those are all projected to grow 6% from 2011 to 2014.” Residential building ranks a close second. Grasz believes companies and individuals are slowly opening their wallets as they become more confident in the U.S. recovery. “It is showing that people have more confidence in their financial performance and I think that bodes well for future job growth in those industries that are connected.” CareerBuilder expects continued construction growth will lead to job growth in related industries, adds Grasz. “Many areas of the industry are reporting steady job growth particularly in residential remodeling and industrial construction.” Grasz says this job growth is different than it was a few years ago. “We see jobs are improving year over year, across industries, across geographies and across company sizes, it’s very different from what you would have seen a few years ago.” That points to positive job growth going forward, concludes Grasz. “2014 is shaping up to be a better year than 2013 and 2013 was a better year than 2012, so I think we are headed in the right direction and I think you will see more job creation picking up in the back half of the year.” CareerBuilder expects continued construction growth will lead to job growth in related industries through to the end of the year.
