More on Tuesday Night Chase from SC to GA

The Oconee County Sheriff’s Office and the Georgia State Patrol have both disclosed further details about a car chase that took place on Tuesday evening. An Oconee deputy from the spotted a dark blue Scion with a Georgia license plate, partially obscured by a cover, on W. Bennett Road near Westminster around 6:10pm. The deputy, suspecting the vehicle was involved in a shoplifting incident at a Westminster business the previous day, initiated a traffic stop due to the license plate violation.

Cheyenne Nicole Collier

The vehicle pulled over, and the deputy identified the driver as Cheyenne Nicole Collier, a 23-year-old from West Union. Deputies said Collier’s license was suspended and she had outstanding warrants for methamphetamine possession and a Magistrate Bench Warrant from Walhalla. As the deputy attempted to arrest her, Collier drove off, nearly dragging the deputy along. The deputy returned to his patrol car and the chase led the deputy from W. Bennett Road to Plant Road, then to Mountain Road, and finally onto S. Highway 11.

Collier then entered I-85 southbound, crossing into Georgia. She exited I-85 at exit 173 (Georgia Highway 17) and the pursuit concluded on Arlington Drive at a cemetery in Lavonia. Collier attempted to flee on foot but was apprehended without further incident. The Georgia State Patrol took custody of Collier and her vehicle.

The Oconee County Sheriff’s Office has placed a hold on Collier and is continuing its investigation.
