More Time to complete Sheep Farm Road

An extension has been approved by the state of South Carolina to allow the general contractor another month to complete Sheep Farm Road, which is Oconee County’s major highway project in 2012. The original agreement called for all work to be completed by December 15, but the new date is January 20.  According DOT resident construction engineer Ryan Miller, the inclusion of some permanent traffic signs and other items were not added to the original agreement, so the state has agreed to pay the US Group an additional $10,000 for the work. Miller stresses, however, the January 20 date is weather-related, as the cold weather could affect the contractor’s ability to complete all of the remaining surfacing on Sheep Farm Road.
