Mountain Rest Republicans Show Approval for County’s Spending Plan

Last month, the new conservative majority on the Oconee County Council voted to cut spending, a move that was met with approval by Mountain Rest Republicans. A resolution from their meeting, signed by precinct president Doug Hedden and precinct secretary Al De La Costa, commended District 2 County Council Chairman Matthew Durham, District 3 County Councilman Don Mize, and District 5 County Councilman Glenn Hart for adopting a 2023-2024 Oconee County budget with lower project expenditures than the previous year’s budget. This decision caused a rift between Durham, Hart, and Mize on one side and Davis and Elliott on the other, as they disagreed with the $67M budget recommended by Administrator Amanda Brock.
