Muschamp named Gamecocks Head Coach

The University of South Carolina has a new head football coach, 44-year-old Will Muschamp. On Monday, the Board of Directors for the University of South Carolina discussed an employment contract through the athletics department. Muschamp was offered a 5-year contract worth $16 million. The decision to hire Muschamp was officially announced through the Gamecock’s football social media accounts Sunday afternoon. Muschamp spent this past season as the Auburn Tigers’ defensive coordinator after four seasons as coach of the Florida Gators. He is the second straight Florida coach to hold South Carolina’s permanent job, following Steve Spurrier, who retired in mid-October after 10-plus seasons in Columbia.
