Nearly Two Dozen Catalytic Converters Stolen from Clemson University

Over 20 catalytic converters were stolen from cars at Clemson University’s campus between 2-5 a.m. Wednesday. The suspects targeted early 2000s model Toyotas, Hondas, and other foreign cars. The thefts were discovered when Ella Knee found her car sounding like a motorcycle, police said. Catalytic converters, made of rare materials more expensive than gold, can be quickly stolen, especially from higher vehicles. Two suspects, possibly driving a 2023 black Toyota Camry with New York license plate KBB2937, are being sought.
