Neighbor charged in sexual attack

Multiple charges face a 58-year-old Seneca man after an attack on a neighbor in his apartment complex. Seneca Police Chief John Covington says because of the suspect’s questionable status in the country; his department is asking the U.S. Attorney’s Office and Immigration Customs Enforcement or I.C.E., to review its case against Zenen Alvarez. On Tuesday, officers found a woman at the Field Village Apartments bruised and beaten and charged her neighbor with kidnapping, criminal sexual conduct in the first degree, and possession of a firearm. The police quote the victim as saying she had drinks with Alvarez next door, but he hit her in the face and forced her to the floor and the attack began. The suspect was jailed at the Oconee County Detention Center.
