New Board Chair at OMC

There is a new chair of the Board of Directors for Oconee Medical Center.  After two terms, Dr. Bill Howiler steps down and businessman Rick Phillips succeeds him as chair. As a private non-profit membership corporation, Oconee Medical Center is governed by a 14-member volunteer Board of Directors. The Board of Directors elects five directors from each of Oconee County Council’s five districts. They elect five additional at-large directors and one additional at-large director for minority representation. The medical staff’s Chief of Staff, the Chief of Staff-Elect and CEO serve as ex officio members of the Board of Directors. Besides Phillips, the new hospital board officers are vice chair Thelma Miller, secretary Bo Wilhite and treasurer Cecil Turner.
