New Combat Infantry Veterans in OC

Roy Spivey, Jr. of Salem is a veteran and received the Purple Heart while serving on active duty in Vietnam. Bry Watkins served during the Korean War. They took the oath and were inducted into the Combat Infantryman’s Association on March 20. All veterans who served in an infantry unit in the Army and possess the Combat Infantry Badge are encourage to become members of the Combat Infantryman’s Association. A membership drive is currently underway. An applicant must simply verify eligibility in the organization by showing a certified copy of their DD Form 214 and the designation of the Combat Infantry Badge. Currently, there are 25 members of the Oconee County group. They meet the third Tuesday of every other month at 10am, for breakfast at the Plentiful Platter Restaurant in Seneca. Any veteran who holds the Combat Infantry Badge and may be interested in joining the group is encourage to call the Oconee County Veterans Affairs Office at 864-638-4231.
