New Walhalla High School shaping up

Officially opening in August of 2015, the new Walhalla High School under construction on North Highway 11, is progressing ahead of schedule. Oconee County Schools Assistant Superintendent Steve Hanvey gives an update on the building. “We are still on that time line for end of February, early into March for Trehel to be finished up.” The new high school will house 1,200 students with room for growth. Construction on the exterior is complete and now work continues inside, adds Hanvey. “They are now in the main building that is their hub for the remainder of the project, so it continues to move along well. A lot of folks out there are doing some great work.” Pictures of construction on the new Walhalla High School are available on the school district’s website, concludes Hanvey. “We have some updated pictures on the website for folks out there who want to go check those out and we are excited about it as we are hitting the home stretch of that project.” To see construction photos of new Walhalla High on the west side of Highway 11, visit the school district’s website at www.oconee.k12.sc.us.
