No Snow in OC just Sleet and Ice

Schools are out today for a snow day, but according to official weather observer Barbara Wilson of Walhalla, Oconee County did not receive any snow. “We didn’t have any snow at all; we just had sleet and freezing rain. About .06 of an inch through yesterday, which melted and gave us 1.16 inches of melted precipitation in the rain gauge. But it was all ice pellets at least here and that is what I understood for Oconee County. Our high yesterday was 37 degrees and the low was 26 degrees. This morning it’s been 36 degrees and little above so things are melting now but we had ice pellets and freezing rain.” Wilson and her family have served as the official weather observers in Oconee County for more than 100 years.
