OC Absentee Precinct to open soon

Those unable to vote in person on Nov. 4 have a place to cast their ballot early in Oconee County. On Oct. 1 at 8:30am, the Oconee County Absentee Precinct opens and will remain open until 5pm on Nov. 3, which is the day before the General Election. During these dates, the absentee precinct will operate Monday through Friday 8:30am to 5pm. Also on Oct. 1, the Oconee County Voter Registration and Elections Office on South Pine Street in Walhalla will begin mailing absentee ballots, for voters who request a ballot through the mail. Voters are reminded that South Carolina does not have an early-voting law, which means that to cast an absentee ballot; a voter must meet one of 15 criteria.
