OC Coroner released info on Homicide in Walhalla

On Monday morning, the Oconee County Coroner’s Office and Oconee County Sheriff’s Office were dispatched to a home on West South Broad Street in Walhalla. A 911 call reported that a person had been found dead at this location. The preliminary death investigation suggested the woman might have died from a possible overdose. She stayed at the residence over the weekend as the home belongs to her boyfriend. Addis stated that it is believed she died late Sunday night or during the early morning hours of Monday. An autopsy was performed Tuesday morning, which showed she died as a result of manual strangulation with the manner of death classified as a homicide. Addis identified the decedent as 27-year-old Alana Carpenter of Seneca. Investigators with the Oconee County Sheriff’s Office gathered information through evidence and interviews and were able to charge 30-year-old Caleb Nathanael Linart with murder. The Oconee County Sheriff’s Office is continuing their investigation.
