OC Council to vote on New Noise Ordinance

At their monthly meeting Tuesday night, the Oconee County Council considers second reading of a new Noise Ordinance. Oconee County Sheriff Mike Crenshaw encourages residents to be informed about the upcoming vote. “County Council is considering amending our Noise Ordinance to allow for some open air concerts in the unincorporated areas of the county. This kind of surfaced with Float-A-Polooza last year, we had some complaints, so Council is considering that. What the ordinance is, is what we will enforce, just give us something that we can enforce. It will be a decibel reading, if it exceeds, I think currently it is 75 decibels within any home of the open-air concert that you could be considered in violation. So, Council is looking to take that up Tuesday.” The Oconee County Council considers second reading of the Noise Ordinance on Tuesday, June 16 at 6pm in Council Chambers of the Oconee County Administrative Offices, which are located at 415 South Pine Street in Walhalla.
